NESISM celebrated Independence Day Online!!!

Introduction

As per every year's tradition, NESISM or National Education Society celebrates Independence Day with great pomp and show. But this year, the program was celebrated online due to the current pandemic situation. The program involved various student leaders of NESISM from EYP, PYP, MYP and DP.

Programme Flow

The grand program started with the flag hoisting by our founder principal sir DR. R Varadarajan. Which was followed by the flag song “jhanda uncha rahe humara”. We were then told who had designed our tricolour. We came to know that he was a freedom fighter and a follower of Mahatma Gandhi. His name was  "Pingali Venkayya".

The program continued with the inspirational talk by our founder principal DR. R Vardarajan sir and a very motivational speech by the director DR. V Balasubramanian sir. Every year the Independence Day and Republic day programs have a theme about our great leaders who have sacrificed their lives for our nation.

The principal sir ensures that all the students are well informed about these great leaders. This year, the program starred one of the bravest Kargil war hero Capt. Vikram Batra. Students performed a skit that depicted the life of Capt. Vikram Batra popularly known as Sher Shah among his colleagues. The play was performed in a very unique way that involved gymnastics. Further, the program continued with the drama on how Capt. Vikram Batra fought for our country. Although it was an online program the student leaders performed extremely well. We came to know how Capt. Vikram Batra fought the Kargil war which was between India and Pakistan and achieved the Tiger Hilltop in June 1999.

After capturing the hilltop and achieving success, he said “Ye Dil Mange More” because he was so highly charged up that he was not afraid to face many more enemies. The legend Capt. Vikram Batra’s word inspires the people which said “I will either come back after raising the Indian flag in victory or return wrapped in it”.  But unfortunately, when he was trying to capture another point he got shot while saving the life of his team member and gave his life for the nation.

All this was shown as a drama and all the student leaders acted very well. In between the drama, there were patriotic songs performed by cute EYP students. After the drama, the programme continued with the art exhibition wherein the students had drawn paintings of the Kargil war. Then the programme concluded with the grand finale which was a wonderful mashup sung by the student leaders of NESISM. It was very melodious and energetic. In the last, there was a vote of thanks. As the heading says "Ye Dil Mange More" we all really felt that the magnificent programme would never have ended. It was so much fun and learning. NESISM truly stood up to its tradition of celebrating the sacrifice of nations true heroes.
